What is a BioBlitz?
"Bio" means "life" and "Blitz" means "to do something quickly and intensively". At a BioBlitz teams of specialists, families, students, and other community members work together in a race against time to find and identify as many kinds of life as possible in the area during the event. Just like a real scientific expedition, everything found will be documented and passed on to local and national databases that monitor wildlife.
It is an informal and fun way to create a snapshot of the variety of life that can be found in an area. It provides an opportunity for participants to learn together and share their expertise and enthusiasm for nature.
With interactive activities for kids, grown-ups, beginners and experts alike there is something for everyone at a BioBlitz.
