BioBlitz Resources

Our big BioBlitz on 27th June 2026 covers quite a few sites but there is much more space with wildlife dotted around the villages – gardens potentially being a key resource. Understanding how to help local wildlife depends on learning more about what is present in such places. It is a big task but ‘mini BioBlitz’ activities can add to this body of knowledge especially those in gardens.

The Histon & Impington BioBlitz, as a large event, has been able to bring in a lot of specialist expertise to help identify things. What could non-experts doing their own mini BioBlitz realistically manage?

Our answer to that is - with the right tools a lot of very useful information can be collected – as at present there is almost no data for these green spaces.

We have developed the Histon & Impington BioBlitz MiniBlitz Instruction booklet and recording form to help. IVC students have already had a go in their school grounds, and we are keen to encourage others to have a go and give us their results and feedback on how to improve the guidance.

Download the Guidance booklet to see what is involved and choose which animal group(s) you would like to try.
